When Microns Count, Only an ICam is Good Enough
Little-known fact: Full-arch dentists only have a margin of 100 – 150 microns to achieve passivity. That’s about the size of a human hair!
Unfortunately, each stage of the prosthetic process can introduce small errors, which “stack up” and may lead to a poor fit. Some 3D printers, for instance, produce errors of 100 microns or more. If you add up the margin of error for each step of the prosthetic process, you can quickly find yourself over 100 microns and at risk of complications.
This is why it’s critical to start with the most accurate records possible. The goal is to reduce marginal gaps to ensure a passive fit that minimizes stress and increases the likelihood of long-term success.
With four moving cameras, ICam is the industry’s only TRUE photogrammetry, and the only method for capturing dental implant position that can guarantee a passive fit—no matter the operator or case complexity. All of the other methods and devices (PIC, MicronMapper, Tupel, OXO, Shining Aoral Elite) have two, stationary cameras or less and cannot predictably guarantee a passive fit.
The Ultimate Digital Dental Workflow
ICam quickly and easily captures highly precise, three-dimensional representations of dental implant positions. It stitches together a series of two-dimensional images to digitally map the precise positioning and angulation of implants.
HOW IT WORKS: ICam Photogrammetry is as easy as 1-2-3:
- Simply connect the ICam scanbodies (known as ICamBodies) to the implants. Note that ICam is the only photogrammetry with individually calibrated titanium scanbodies that can be x-rayed.
- Quickly calibrate the ICam and position it over the ICamBodies to easily capture multiple images of the abutments from different angles.
- The system’s software then processes the images, using mathematical algorithms to create a 3D digital representation of the implant positions. ICam runs 60,800 calculations, while other systems only run between 150 – 260.
Combine both the ICam implant data with your IOS soft tissue data in your CAD software (like Exocad or 3Shape) and design the final prosthesis. This fast, non-contact method ensures unmatched accuracy without the invasiveness of traditional impression techniques.
With four moving cameras, ICam is the industry’s only true photogrammetry and the only system that can guarantee passivity, no matter the operator or case complexity. Finally, a predictable technology that provides peace of mind while significantly boosting profitability, reducing chairtime, and improving the patient experience.
